Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Answer:

Our website is designed to provide general information. Because designing or updating a website is such a complex process, we will work with you to answer your questions specifically.

Answer:

"Free" websites go hand in hand with a "free" lunch. Not only will you pay, on average, $240 a year, but you don't own anything, you can't change anything and if you want an option like a calendar, you have to buy theirs. Many times, the "free" website will also display ads as a method to pay for your website.

Answer:

A Client came to me and wanted to move his domain only to find out his host company had put their name on as the owner and he could not make any changes. iPage puts your name on your domain so you own it. iPage is one of the best but there are others just a good. We represent iPage because they have proven over time to be the best for our customers.

Answer:

We could do as some template companies and put up the same template in 20+ different colors but that is confusing. We only show 10 unique templates to give you ideas. Colors, images and text are easy to change. Modules are usually interchangeable feature pieces so your finished website is only based on a template and customized to satisfy you.

Answer:

We test all of our websites in Internet Explorer 10, Firefox 22, Chrome 27, Safari 6 and Opera 12 browsers. Some older browsers or outdated plug-ins may not render all features properly. While we do design to try and make the user experience on old software functional, our target market is not a user running Windows 98.

Quotes and Orders

Answer:

Our website is designed to give you some idea of what we offer and the associated cost. If this looks appealing, contact us to set-up a consultation with a website designer. After the meeting, you will receive a preliminary quotation. Before we start work, you will get refined quotes until you are satisfied with the cost and what you will receive. At that time, you will be asked to sign an agreement and make a deposit before work will start.

Answer:

OK. First, we don't do the high pressure thing. Secondly, we are not the best choice for everyone so we start by answering your questions. Usually by the second or third round of questions, we will both know if we are a good fit. Also, by then, we should be able to supply a basic quotation for you. BMWD is someplace between the cheapest and the most expensive. We believe we provide the best value for the money but that is your decision.

Answer:

Not a problem. We will give you an updated quote if any cost is involved and a change order form. If all is right, you would authorize the changes by signing and returning the form. This formality is only required for functional changes. Images, text and such are routinely defined and fine tuned during the developmental phase of building your website.

Our Services

Answer:

Your domain name is your Internet address. We insist your company name be listed as owner. If you don't own your domain name and you decide to move, you're stuck. Hosting is where your website lives on the web. On average, the cost is $125 a year. There are cheaper alternatives with their own set of caveats. iPage runs specials where you can buy 3 years of hosting for ~$80. Domain registration is ~$20 a year.

Answer:

Our focus is on businesses like ours because that is what we know best. While developing online stores is big money, we would have to severely limit our client base. Concentrating all your eggs in one or two baskets is a poor business plan.
